"No Fear”

There are moments when I realize that the connections created through art become something much greater — they become moments of truth, of choice, of grace.

Recently, a remarkable woman, 75 years old, came to my studio and chose to celebrate her birthday in an uncommon way. She arrived to create, together with me, the vessel that will one day hold her ashes.

It was one of the most moving encounters I have experienced as an artist. She shared stories of her life, her loves, her family, and the courage it takes to choose how her memory will be preserved. Together, we crafted a piece born of clay, of story, and of her brave heart facing the passage of time.

The video we filmed tells her story, serving as a testament to the power of creation as a ritual.

Dassi’s message to the world is “No Fear,” and this is how she walks through life — crossing mountains, valleys, and waterfalls, experiencing profound, artistic, and human moments in her own unique way.

I am filled with gratitude for Dassi’s choice to create with me, and for the continuity that our meeting will carry into the future.

This experience opened a new door for me — an understanding of how much space the studio holds for choice, for healing, for creativity that rises above fear.

The idea of residency in a ceramic vessel is quite wild and daring… 

Being with Ishai and Bar for my 75 birthday has been a very moving and meaningful experience as I was looking into my unknown future, preparing myself for the next physical life as an ashes.

I am a realist, not necessarily believing in life after life, so being dead, cremated and placed in a beautiful hand made vessel created with much love - seemed like a very good fortune. When both my friends expressed their wish to keep me with them, it made me feel so happy, connected to them and safe to be surrounded by love after my death.

The whole process was fulfilling as I was directing and controlling not only my life but also my life after death.
